Welcome to the only compeititon in Canada that focuses on helping IT professionals find their voice in the blogosphere and promote them to an audience of their peers. If this is your first time, here’s what you need to know:

  • We launched Blogging Idol in 2008 as a way to develop user-generated content from an audience that deserves more recognition: Canadian enterprise IT professionals. And they came to us from all walks of life. First year winner Don Sheppard took the top prize in 2008 with no previous blogging experience, earning the most overall traffic.
  • When we returned in 2009 we changed it up a bit by offering a prize for the most traffic to an individual post, as well as an award for overall editorial quality. Second year winner Pedro Cardoso came out strong from the very beginning and contributed to the growing camraderie among our contestant. Pedro continued to blog for us with his own blog, Making IT Work.
  • Year three saw the biggest change to Blogging Idol when we moved away from giving prizes purely based on traffic and instead appointing a panel of judges (including year 2 winner Pedro) to evaluate the collected posts.  We were thrilled to see Chris Lau, who had been a contestant from the very first year and a consistant runner-up, walk away with the top prize in 2010.

And then, last year, we won a prize of our own when ComputerWorld Canada’s Blogging Idol won “Best Community Feature” in the 2010 Canadian Online Publishing Awards.

Now we’re off and running for 2011. To get started:
