I use facebook. I was late to the party and started only a year or so ago.

But my posts and any information that I place have gotten fewer over the last six months as I simply am not sure I trust facebook. I enjoy communicating with my friends outside of email, but as fb tries to turn into a money making machine for its financial backers I have lost that initial interest quite quickly.

Recently facebook announced Open Graph and yet again I found myself asking what privacy changes happened. Many friends started posting the change needed to reclaim some of the privacy lost with the introduction of this new tool, yet I have still wondered.

Today, I read several blogs that I think others might be interested in and am posting them here:

The Truly Scary Part About Facebook Open Graph

Facebook’s Open Graph Personalizes the Web

…and of course the news that the U.S. government has taken interest in this new change on CNN

My thoughts are these. I don’t expect stop using fb all though I am removing as much as possible about me and posting less and ‘listening more’. Moreover, I think others should proceed with eyes wide open that fb is a for profit company and you should treat it as such when using it, associated applications and sites.

Maybe Open Graph will be a huge benefit to users looking share and centralize what they do on the web. Me I am always wary about things that look too good to be true.
