Reducing the Cost of IT
The past few weeks I’ve been busy trying to identify ways to reduce IT costs, especially for software. You may ask: why worry about something that isn’t the largest budget item, or you may say we don’t need to because we’re over the recession hump. But people are still looking for ways to reduce costs and the question comes up frequently. Some answers are: license negotiation, harvesting unused software, reducing SLAs for maintenance, automating delivery and patching, and so on.
So, tell me what you think or what you’ve experienced – is it easy to find 25% savings or is that a pipe dream?
